It’s a decent day to get out there… just settle on the North. Or hunker down on the south and watch the rising surf. Either way, at least we have a breeze !

Tropical Storm Jose to our distant south-southwest has begun to move northwestward. Jose is expected to become a hurricane again by this evening, then turn northward tomorrow. Moderate winds will persist into Sunday, becoming moderate to strong by Sunday evening. Moderate seas occasionally build to rough today with southerly swells.

STORM WATCH

At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Jose was located near latitude 25.9 North, longitude 68.7 West. Jose is moving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h). A gradual turn toward the north is expected later today and on Saturday. Maximum sustained winds are near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours. Jose is forecast to become a hurricane later today. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km) from the centre.
Closest point of approach to Bermuda within 72 hrs (3 days) is forecast to be 384 nm to the W, 6 am Mon, Sep 18, 2017. However, this system may move closer to Bermuda after this time period


1. A tropical wave located about 1200 miles east-southeast of the Lesser Antilles continues to produce disorganised showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for gradual development, and a tropical depression is likely to form early next week. Interests in the Lesser Antilles should closely monitor the progress of this system while it moves westward to west-northwestward at about 15 mph.

At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the centre of Tropical Depression Fourteen was located near latitude 10.6 North, longitude 27.3 West. The depression is moving toward the west near 15 mph (24 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue during the next couple of days.
Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. The depression is forecast to become a Tropical Storm later today or tomorrow.
