A strong low to our north will keep Bermuda under persistent gales through the weekend, with a period of possible storm force winds today, especially in elevated and exposed areas. There will be passing showers and a chance of thunder along with high to very high seas. Gales are possible into Monday, then decrease on Tuesday with seas slowly abating.

Deepening low pressure to the northwest with an associated cold front will send increasing winds along with showers and possible thunderstorms today. The winds will cross into gale force with gusts to storm force near mid-day, then briefly taper off late this afternoon, but then gales ramp up again with storm force gusts tonight through the weekend as the deep low lingers to our near north. Rough seas build high to very high tonight through the weekend.

Today – Winds southwesterly 20 to 30 knots gusts to 40 to 50 knots, increasing 25 to 35 knots late morning, increasing 30 to 40 knots gusts 50 to 60 knots in the afternoon, decreasing westerly 25 to 35 knots behind the cold front.
Tonight – Winds westerly 25 to 35 knots gusts to 45 to 50 knots, increasing 35 to 45 knots with gusts to 55 knots overnight
As high pressure to our east settles to our southeast today moderate winds will bring a few showers. A large area of low pressure will deepen to our north and become slow moving Friday bringing gales through the weekend along with showers and thunderstorms. The low will slowly move to our northeast Monday with strong to gale winds, showers and thunderstorms persisting. Seas rise high to very high through the weekend.

High pressure to the west maintains fine conditions and a steady northwesterly breeze today. By Monday night, a cold front begins to approach from the north with winds and clouds increasing into Tuesday. The front is expected to move through Bermuda Tuesday morning along with a band of scattered showers. High pressure begins to build in behind the front with improving conditions. Slight seas through tomorrow build moderate to rough through Wednesday.
