Can’t even tell you to get out there early… It’s still raining…

As the low centre to our west inches closer, periods of light rain will occasionally include heavy showers with strong winds, especially this morning. Precipitation then gradually decreases as we near and go through the weekend. Winds become light and variable as the low centre creeps overhead early Saturday then shifts away to the east.

Welcome to Hurricane Season

Whether we like it or not… It’s here…

HURRICANE SEASON… Sigh

If you look up the 2023 predictions, you’re thrown stuff like El Niño and west African monsoon and warmer-than-normal sea surface temperatures in the tropical Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. Everyone however, seems to think that this is going to be a normal or below average hurricane season. And that would be just fine.

At any rate, here we go….. Here’s this year’s storm names

Cloudy with rain & showers in the area

Deepening low pressure to our west will steer increasing showers over the next couple of days, particularly today into early Friday before high pressure to our north delivers a drier solution towards Saturday. Slight seas tend to build moderate over the weekend under a strengthening easterly breeze.

Get out there early!

Showers develop once again later today into tonight.

Intermittent wet periods continue due to the lack of protection from an uncharacteristically weak Bermuda-Azores high to our east while low pressure meanders to our west. While a few dry breaks may occur, we are far from seeing any permanent pattern shift through the forecast period. Light to moderate wind will maintain mostly slight seas, perhaps touching moderate this weekend.

High near 26°C/78°F

Humidity 96%

Winds south-southeasterly 8 to 12 knots… Isolated showers with fair to poor visibility, becoming scattered to widespread this afternoon with a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms

Turning wet again…

Low pressure towards the west continues to steer several troughs in our direction with a mixture of patchy rain, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. It remains quite unsettled as the nearly stationary boundary remains close. Light and variable winds settle into the east and increase to moderate while mainly slight seas build moderate towards the end of the week.

High near 25°C/77°F

Humidity a lovely 97%… Sigh

Winds east-southeasterly 8 to 12 knots, variable in direction at times within heavier showers

Cloudy with light and variable winds…

Bermuda remains trapped between high pressure towards the east and lower pressure towards the west. This pattern continues to feed moist tropical air in from the south, with occasional showers well into the week ahead. Winds become light and variable for a time, and seas turn to dead calm.

Humidity slightly better – crazy that we would be excited at 91% liquid air.

Early showers around but possible sunny breaks in afternoon.

The southwest flow continues to push showers into the region. A cluster to the west will slowly approach us, possibly giving a rumble of thunder, then conditions gradually improve as the wind veers towards the west, However, in the slack pressure pattern, the nearby boundary lingers for a few days maintaining isolated to scattered showers in the area. Winds will generally be light to moderate. Seas will return to calm.

Showers easing with sunny breaks developing

Low pressure to our west coupled with high pressure to our east combine to draw in showery periods, though the bulk of the activity will stay west of the Island for Bermuda Day. However, showery spells return this weekend with the current southerly breeze easing and becoming westerly on Sunday. Moderate seas slightly ease over the weekend.

It’s not raining.

Drier weather continues today as brighter skies emerge as the area of convergence slides further to the east. Later tonight into the weekend more wet weather returns due to a developing low to the distant southwest driving the departed area of convergence back over the island and to our near west.
