Remaining cloudy this morning as areas of wet weather move in.

A slow-moving frontal boundary will move scattered showers, rain, and embedded thunderstorm activity across the area before gradually clearing south by tonight. A return to mainly fair weather is expected through midweek, before conditions deteriorate once again into the weekend. Light winds will veer towards the northeast through midweek and increase moderate, while seas build slight to moderate.

A frontal boundary nears the area bringing isolated to scattered showers and patchy rain through Tuesday. Conditions will settle into the midweek with the return of mostly fair weather. Smooth to slight seas begin to increase slight to moderate overnight while winds gradually increase.

High near 26°C/79°F….  Well look at that!  We’ve broken into the 70s.

 Winds easterly 5 to 8 knots, veering southerly 10 to 15 knots towards the evening.

So much for that rain promised yesterday… Sigh. The good news is that we have a weak cold front coming across us bringing northerly winds. And you know what that means! Slightly cooler weather and less humidity!

Cloudy start with a shower or 2 around.

Rather cloudy and sometimes showery conditions will continue to feed across the area in advance of a weak cold front. The cold front clears tomorrow morning, bringing a return to dry and sunny weather. Good news:  The high humidity will begin to decrease as southerly winds veer west….  Thank you!

Generally easterly breeze today….. And that’s going to feel a little better.

The nearby ridge will shift position, and this allows a weak trough to approach from the southeast. Skies will turn cloudy at times then thicken to produce a few showers. By Monday, a cold front moves in from the northwest bringing a greater likelihood of wet spells…  Hmmmm.

Fiona

A HURRICANE WARNING is now in effect as the recent forecast track of Major Hurricane Fiona has shifted closer to Bermuda while the wind field has expanded. Fiona is still expected to pass our near west Thursday night through Friday morning, but now over a longer period of time. Rain bands will sweep over us at times; swells and hazardous seas become dangerous. Winds rapidly increase Thursday night and reach Hurricane Force early on Friday morning.

Suppose the good news in all this is that Fiona will drop from a Category 4 to a Category 3 by the time it passes us.

Closest point of approach to Bermuda within 72 hrs (3 days) is forecast to be 98 nm to the NW, 5 am Fri, Sep 23, 2022. However, this system may move closer to Bermuda after this time period depending upon its track.

A TROPICAL STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT..

Yep.  Just stepping outside this morning you can feel the change in the air. 

A weak trough maintains nearby clusters of showers giving the odd rumble.

For the moment, it’s calm out there.  So get your gear in order.   Fiona is a huge Category 4 that could make a change in direction at any time.  Better to be safe than sorry. 

Major Hurricane Fiona will approach the Island from the southwest, with a projected track to pass to our west late Thursday night through Friday morning. Swells and hazardous seas become dangerous early Thursday. Rain bands will sweep over us at times as of midweek. Winds rapidly increase to Tropical Storm Force late Thursday and will likely reach Hurricane Force on Friday morning.
