A windy start to the week as the low continues to approach.
A rapidly developing low pressure will approach the area from the southwest today bringing periods of wet weather, possible thunderstorms, and increasing winds strong to Gale Force winds with Storm to Hurricane Force gusts. Patchy rain and isolated to scattered showers with fair to poor visibility becoming scattered to widespread from afternoon with isolated thunderstorms and fair to very poor visibility.Blustery showers and strong winds linger into Tuesday before the low moves away to the northeast. High pressure will return through midweek easing winds. Seas build rough to very rough over the coming days.

To our distant southwest a developing low will rapidly deepen into a gale and as it passes nearby tomorrow. Expect wet and windy weather with storm force gusts at times.

Blustery showers in the wake of the front.



Small Craft Warning (Valid through Monday morning)


In the wake of a series of fronts, cold northerly air will bring blustery showers while maintaining mostly cloudy skies. Showers will be driven into the area on the northwesterly to northerly flow while high pressure continues to our distant north. High pressure will pass to our distant north then another low will develop to our southwest bringing gusty gales and heavier showers for Monday.

Developing showers as a front approaches

Although temperatures will be mild, southerly winds will strengthen ahead of a cold front approaching from the west. Cloudy skies carry a few showers into our area as the front crosses over us later today. Winds will sharply veer to the north then settled conditions return with occasional bright skies through the weekend, as high pressure passes to our north.

Cloudy skies continue this morning with a moderate breeze

A cloudy and cool morning with a light northerly breeze.

High pressure to the northeast continues to keep the cool and dry regime around with a moderate breeze. However, the warm sector of an approaching front will cause winds to veer southerly and strengthen allowing temperatures to rebound slightly. A cold front then moves through the area on Friday with increasing cloud cover and a few showers. Settled weather returns into the weekend.

Humidity a beautiful 58% at the moment, but that’ll all change when the winds switch south, so get out there and breathe the fresh air while you can.

The winds have stopped!

A cloudy and cool morning with a light northerly breeze.

High pressure building in from the west is maintaining settled and cool yet cloudy conditions around the area. On Thursday, ahead of another frontal boundary, warm southerly winds veer and strengthen once again which will increase our temperatures slightly. A cold front then moves overhead on Friday with isolated to scattered showers. Rough seas ease moderate early today and persist through the weekend.

Winds north-northeasterly 5 to 10 knots, veering easterly during the day, possibly becoming variable for a time, increasing southeasterly 10 to 15 knots by evening

This cold front with its high winds leaves us to the east.  The day is going to get calmer but we’ll still have lingering rain and winds until later today.  The good news is that we have a high pressure that gradually builds in from the west with mostly settled weather.

Moderate winds continue to ease as high pressure moves in from the north. This sees a brief return of mostly fair weather today with light to moderate winds. Thereafter, winds will restrengthen into Monday as another frontal system begins to approach with isolated to scattered showers later that night. Moderate to rough seas abate becoming moderate today before rebuilding rough on Monday.

Would you believe the wind is coming back? Sigh…. And more rain late tonight.

A low moving to our north will soon drag a warm front near us, then winds rapidly become strong and gusty today ahead of a cold front due to cross later tonight. Lingering cloud will thin to allow more sunshine over the weekend, though it will feel cooler with lower humidity. OK… We’ll take that.
