Isolated, light showers are expected today as a weak trough passes across the region with more stable, dry conditions to follow. Moderate winds persist, becoming strong for a time late Tuesday through midday Wednesday. Seas build rough this afternoon and then fall toward the end of the week

A developing area of low pressure to our northwest will deepen rapidly as it moves to our northeast this afternoon. The associated cold front will bring rain or showers and a chance of thunder today. High pressure will then build in from the north bringing moderate to strong winds tonight through Thursday. Slight to moderate seas become moderate to rough Monday afternoon onward.

Morning clouds, decreasing winds through the day.

Strong winds this morning will decrease through the day as Tropical Storm Maria exits the region to our far northeast. Some residual cloudiness will be seen this morning, then high pressure will usher in dryer conditions and abating seas into Sunday. Weak surface troughing may kick off a couple of showers on Sunday afternoon and night, then generally fair and breezy conditions follow into next week.

Showers become prevalent today along with a chance of thunder and increasing winds as Hurricane Maria re-curves and passes to our distant north tonight. Strong winds will continue into tomorrow morning, then taper off going forward. High pressure will usher in cooler air and lower humidity over the weekend, although a few showers are possible later on Sunday.

Hurricane Maria, currently to our distant west-southwest, is tracking north between the US coast and Bermuda. Moderate southeasterly flow draws tropical moisture and isolated to scattered showers along with a chance for thunder to the region throughout the forecast period. Mid-week Maria makes a turn northeast to pass by Bermuda to the North. Rough swells become very rough toward the end of the week.

A weak ridge of high pressure extends west over Bermuda while post tropical cyclone Jose lingers to our distant north-northwest. Hurricane Maria to our distant south-southwest will gradually move northward, passing to our distant west Monday and Tuesday. Expect mainly fair weather with a few showers interspersed over the next few days. Light to moderate winds slowly increase to strong by Monday. Slight to moderate seas build rough to very rough from Sunday morning.

A band of showers will remain stalled to the east today, possibly sending a couple of showers back into the area. Tropical moisture increases on Friday and maintains isolated showers through Saturday. Moderate winds arrive on Saturday and are expected to increase slightly on. Moderate to occasionally rough swells persist.

Hurricane Jose drifts northwards to our distant west, giving moderate to strong southeasterly winds until easing moderate southerly late Tuesday. An active band of showers trailing northeast over Bermuda today is responsible for generally scattered showers and a risk of thunder until late Wednesday, then gradually improving. Expect rough seas until late Wednesday.
